St. Luke’s Medical Center – Global City’s Center for Renal Diseases (CRD) stands as one of the foremost institutions in the Philippines dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment, and comprehensive management of kidney diseases. With a patient-centered and multidisciplinary approach, the CRD delivers world-class care across the full spectrum of nephrology services—ranging from early detection and disease prevention to renal replacement therapies including hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis, and kidney transplantation.
Launched alongside the opening of St. Luke’s Global in 2010, the Center for Renal Diseases has since grown into a beacon of clinical excellence and innovation. It is composed of multiple key units: the Inpatient Nephrology Service, Outpatient Renal Clinic, Hemodialysis, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) Program, Plasmapheresis Services, and the Transplant Nephrology Section. The Center is staffed by over 40 board-certified adult nephrologists, transplant physicians, and renal nurses—each trained to deliver evidence-based and compassionate care to patients at all stages of kidney disease.
The Center has been at the forefront of several landmark advancements in renal care in the country. It is among the few centers equipped to offer integrated Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy for critically ill patients, and was an early adopter of high-flux and online hemodiafiltration modalities is fully aligned with international best practices.
The Kidney Transplant Program, conducted in collaboration with the hospital’s Transplant Institute, is among the most advanced in Southeast Asia. The program offers comprehensive pre-transplant evaluations, living and deceased donor transplantation, and long-term post-transplant monitoring. It also maintains an exceptional record of outcomes, underpinned by strict adherence to international standards and protocols.
Recognizing the importance of research and training, the CRD houses an esteemed Adult Nephrology Fellowship Program accredited by the Philippine Society of Nephrology, committed to producing future leaders in kidney care. Subspecialty tracks in Interventional Nephrology, Critical Care Nephrology, and Transplant Nephrology are also being developed in response to the evolving needs of the field.
Beyond clinical care, the Center actively engages in community outreach and education. Through its CKD Awareness and Prevention Campaigns, the CRD promotes early detection and lifestyle modification strategies among at-risk populations, in alignment with the hospital’s broader commitment to public health advocacy.
For over a decade, the Center for Renal Diseases at St. Luke’s Global City has exemplified excellence, innovation, and patient-centeredness. As the burden of chronic kidney disease continues to rise, the Center remains steadfast in its mission to provide world-class, compassionate, and accessible kidney care—one patient at a time.
